Abstract

A mobile flotation pilot plant developed by Colorado Minerals Research Institute (CMRI) was used to evaluate the Reverse Crago and All-Cationic processes at PCS Inc., Swift Creek Mine. The comparisons of the Reverse Crago and All-Cationic processes were accomplished in parallel with the conventional Crago flowsheet. Mechanical and column flotation cells were utilized during the test program. This report presents results and discussion of the test program. By optimizing the Reverse Crago process some promising results were achieved. Control of the flotation density, reagent dosages, and desliming were the key factors in optimizing the Reverse Crago performance. The Reverse Crago process achieved significantly lower reagent consumptions than the conventional Crago process. The All-Cationic process requires more fundamental research and optimization.
